Eliminate negative self-talk and #StopTheMadness

Negative Self-Talk, BestKeptSelf, Stop the madness, Sylvie di Giusto, Executive Image Consulting

Every leader has times when he or she can’t switch off, when self-doubt buzzes around in our heads and drains on our energy. This is the time when negative self-talk leads us into a pointless place.

Did I do whatever I takes to the best of my abilities? Probably not. Was my intent good enough? Maybe not. Am I good enough for this position? I’m sure… I’m not. Negative self-talk can hurt you both personally and professionally. It can seriously impair your performance at work. While you wallow in self-pity, you simply don’t do the things you need to do and lose your motivation to perform.

You might be surprised how many of my clients who outwardly seem to have it all (great look, high intelligence, financial success) are sinking in self-doubt. And others who have been challenged in many different ways have a surprisingly positive self-image. I tell my clients that the way they think about themselves is a constant balancing act between positive self-thoughts and realistic goals, but never negative self-talk.

There are some stops on my virtual book tour I do for a commercial reason, and I focus on marketing my new book. There are others that are close to my heart. This is truly one of them, because Shauna Mackenzie and her BestKeptSelf team have initiated an incredible campaign, and I’m honored that they invited me to join their movement. Today, I encourage you to do the same and to support them. Because, we live in a world where there is an epidemic of negative self-talk, and it starts in a very early age. Here is what you have to do:

1. Watch the #StopTheMadness video on their website

2. Download and print a pdf from their website

3. Fill in the blank. How does your BestKeptSelf look like?

4. Share it with the world and hashtag with #BestKeptSelfie

Our BestKeptSelf affects almost every aspect of our lives and careers, from how we think about ourselves to the way we think about or react to others. My BestKeptSelf is brilliant, efficient, strong and true. What about your’s? I also love hearing from you.
