I’ll say it right up front: There won’t be a book signing. I seriously thought that everyone who knows me – just a little bit at least – doesn’t see me sitting at a table in the back of a bookshop signing books. Me? Really? Do you see me sitting there in a dark lonesome corner?
It’s one of the most common questions though that I hear since launching The Image of Leadership: “Will you do a book signing tour?”
No! Never ever! This idea sounds as appealing as toenail fungus to me, and I have memories from the 90s perhaps when authors did exactly that. Well, wait! Nowadays Hillary Clinton still does it and even the Former Secretary of State faces empty book shops and tons of criticism during her attempts to promote her newest book.
I know what you are thinking. “She is such a small peewee on the authors market. Who would come anyway?” One hundred? A hand full? Maybe a few friends?
What if I could be friend with thousands of people? What if those people could multiply my exposure exponentially? What if, instead of reaching a handful of people in a dumpy local book shop, I could reach millions?
Sounds too good to be true? Not really. It’s 2014! I am a modern author who has an established rockin’ online brand, who blogs regularly, who does social media, who invests in search engine optimization, who constantly learns newer and better technologies or tools, and who last but not least has a huge team of ninjas followers who will help me promote this book.
I have a strong product, a strong platform and a strong promotion. Instead of looking for me in a dark corner of a dumpy old book shop I invite you to join me on my virtual book tour. We will visit a number of blogs, you’ll hear me chatting on podcasts, you’ll see me on video casts and even your TV will not be safe from me. We are going to have have on this tour. I promise. Even if it’s only virtual. But it’s exactly the way I am and what I stand for.
What are your thoughts? Are you disappointed there is not book signing tour? Don’t worry if you miss the old ways and get nostalgic here. No shame in loving the traditions of the 90s. I just love hearing from you.
